Insert the back curtain rod if you re using a double rod setup.

If you re not using a double rod you can skip this step.

Then you can hang your sheer curtain or blackout curtain.
The curtain curtain rod combo is heavy enough that in an ideal situations your brackets would go into wood.
Hanging curtains on drywall is not as simple as it looks.
Hang the curtains and double check to make sure your brackets are still secure.
Or use extra long curtains and hang the rod near the ceiling to make the room appear taller.
When you re figuring out the curtain and rod placement remember to account for how the curtain hangs on the rod hooks rings tabs grommets or pockets.
In the typical recently built house this means getting your screws through the drywall and into a stud.
Hang the rod 6 inches above the window frame for a standard look.
Drywall may look solid enough but it won t hold a screw and if you mount a curtain rod improperly you ll end up with a sagging curtain and a hole to patch.
Drywall will not hold a screw because it s not solid.
Using drywall anchors is the only solution.
